Sentence upheld for former Paraguayan mayor convicted of instigating 2014 murder of Pablo Medina

There has been another advancement in the case of the 2014 murder of Paraguayan journalist Pablo Medina and his assistant Antonia Almada.

An appeals chamber in the department of Canindeyú upheld the sentence of Vilmar “Neneco” Acosta Marques, a former mayor, who received 29 years in prison and 10 years of security measures for being the instigator of Medina’s murder, ABC Color reported. Read more »


Memetic Media innovates in design and distribution and focuses on digital journalism for young audiences in Paraguay

From the Paraguayan capital of Asunción, a group of professionals –including journalists, designers, illustrators and photographers– has been working for the last three years to build new digital journalistic narratives aimed at the country’s youth. Memetic Media, a non-profit association founded in 2016, brings together three media projects that share innovations in format, language and journalistic approach. Paraguayan journalist asked to reveal her sources in case about audio that reveal alleged government corruption

For four hours, Paraguayan investigative journalist Mabel Rehnfeldt was questioned at the Prosecutor's Office, where she was summoned as a witness on March 22, in Asunción.
