Technological challenges for newsrooms debated at 5th Ibero-American Colloquium on Digital Journalism

About 40 journalists, media executives, and academic researchers from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal met in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, April 22, for the fifth annual Ibero-American Colloquium on Digital Journalism, organized by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. The Colloquium followed up the 13th International Symposium on Online Journalism. Read more »


Investigative journalists from across the globe gather in Colombia

Editors, investigative journalists, media managers, professors and students gathered in Bogotá on March 16 and 17 during the V Meeting on Investigative Journalism. Organized by Consejo de Redacción, or Newsroom Council, (CdR in Spanish) with the help of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas and other sponsors, the event brought in 247 people. The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas offers the online course “Hyperlocal Journalism” from Oct. 17–Nov. 12, 2010. The four-week course for Latin American and Caribbean journalists is taught in Spanish by Argentine journalist and instructor Sandra Crucianelli. Read more »


Argentine journalists create investigative reporting team

The Argentine Journalism Forum (FOPEA) launched its Investigative Reporting Unit this month with support from the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. Each team will spend two months investigating a topic of public interest. They will present their final product in several formats, including a multimedia package created on a special web page, and on FOPEA’s site. Read more »
