The Knight Center for Journalism has concluded its online course in Spanish, Tools for Investigative Journalism. The free, five-week course taught by Argentine journalist Sandra Crucianelli began Oct. 29 and ended Dec. 2, 2007.
The course covered five main themes:
• Investigative and precision journalism
• Use of public records in investigative reporting
• Interviewing techniques
• Mathematics for journalists
• Use of online documents for reporting
The class was conducted entirely online and included video lectures, text-based materials, and online discussion forums. Students worked at their own pace at the time of their choosing and will prepare weekly exercises and exams. Students who completed the course will receive a certificate of participation from the Knight Center.

Crucianelli has received national and international recognition for her reporting and has taught her popular online courses as part of the Knight Center's distance education program since 2004. She was assisted in this course by Paul Alonso, a staff member of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas.
The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas was created at the University of Texas at Austin School of Journalism in August 2002 thanks to a generous donation from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
