The Newsroom Council, a Colombian investigative journalism association, has completed the training series “The green agenda in investigative journalism” which took place from Aug 3.–Oct. 10. The project was sponsored by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, the College of Rural and Environmental Studies and the Journalism Program at the Universidad Javeriana, and the Andean Development Corporation.

| | Argentine journalists create investigative reporting team
The Argentine Journalism Forum (FOPEA) launched its Investigative Reporting Unit this month with support from the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. Each team will spend two months investigating a topic of public interest. They will present their final product in several formats, including a multimedia package created on a special web page, and on FOPEA’s site.

| | | | Knight Center offers online course in Spanish 'How to Write for the Web'
The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is offering the online course “How to Write for the Web,” from Nov. 16 – Dec. 20, 2009. The course will be taught by Colombian journalist Guillermo Franco, based on his recent book How to write for the web. The free, five-week course has been designed specifically for the Knight Center. Applications were accepted online until November 1.

| | Austin Forum Focuses on Digital Journalism and Democracy
Members of journalism organizations in 18 countries in the Americas and Europe gathered in Austin, Texas, Sept. 11–12, 2009 for the Seventh Austin Forum on Journalism in the Americas. The 48 representatives discussed current and future opportunities for digital journalism projects that will strengthen democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
